Music of Praise to Jesus
Music of Praise to Jesus
The inspiration for this song came as the result of a prayer. I had been lamenting the fact that I hadn't written a song that was inspired by God for a long time. I then recalled the verse: James 4:2:.. "You do not have, because you do not ask God". So I asked. I found myself awakened one night with an inspiration. I made my way out to the studio, and within a short time the arc of this song was gifted to me.
Lyrics
Verse
Shattered broken on this road
Our king is dead leaving us so… alone
Three days passed going home
They crucified our savior on a tree
leaving us without a hope or dream
Then a miracle came that day
Showing us there was another Way
Chorus
On the road to Emmaus
A man appeared to us along the way
He arose to amaze us
In everything he’d do and what he’d say
He said the King had to die
To pay God the price
He taught us what the Holy Scripture said
From the prophets to the breaking… of the bread
Verse
When day began to fade
He said yes when asked to stay
Our hearts were burning from the things he said
We had to know just how the story end…ed
Chorus
One the road to Emmaus
A man appeared to us along the way
He arose to amaze us
In everything he’d do and what he’d say
He said "Jesus is alive
I am He He is I!"
Our eyes were opened when he broke the bread
We saw him in the breaking...
Acclamation!
CHRIST IS ALIVE!
We saw him in the breaking of the bread!
One can only imagine the range of emotions that these two men experienced as they were walking home to Emmaus after the death of Jesus. First having no hope, then being taught God's plan of redemption in the Holy scripture, then realizing their teacher was in fact the risen Lord!
See the scripture here.
These files show the current development of this composition. The first file is the session in the studio the first night. The second file is an initial concept for the banjo solo on the chorus, and the third is the initial concept for the banjo solo in the introduction. The last video has awesome audio of a tree being felled. I'm interested in including this sound into the composition as a symbol of the breaking of the bread.
